SPARK: Setting the Foundation for First-Time Managers| A Special Webinar for AAI’s 20th Anniversary

As part of its ongoing series of 20 complimentary webinars celebrating its 20th anniversary, Assessment Analytics, Inc. (AAI) held another session last April 30, 2026, titled “SPARK: Setting the Foundation for First-Time Managers.” The webinar brought together professionals looking to better understand the shift into leadership roles.
Facilitated by Danica Regina G. Caynap, PhD, Leadership Consultant and Capability Builder, the session explored the realities faced by first-time managers as they shift from individual contributors to leading others. It emphasized that stepping into leadership requires not only new skills, but also the right mindset and approach.
The discussion covered key shifts in identity, capability, and impact. Participants looked at the transition from doing the work to supporting others in delivering results, from relying on technical expertise to developing emotional intelligence, and from using authority to building influence. These changes were presented as essential for effective leadership.
Common challenges were also addressed, including limited organizational support, unclear measures of success, and the “sink or swim” experience many new managers encounter. These gaps point to the need for a more structured and intentional approach to developing leaders within organizations.
Participants gained practical strategies to strengthen their leadership foundations, better support new managers, and promote a more consistent approach to developing leaders.
The session was both relevant and actionable, reflecting AAI’s continued commitment to supporting professional growth through accessible and meaningful learning experiences.
